WOODSTOCK, VERMONT has long been heralded as one of America’s prettiest villages, not only by National Geographic Magazine, Bon Appetit, Ladies Home Journal and the American Architectural Society, but also by the host of visitors who visit us year after year.

WOODSTOCK began attracting hardy, self-reliant farmers, merchants and millers over 200 years ago. Soon after, doctors, lawyers and teachers were drawn to the Shire Town and Woodstock grew in wealth and sophistication. Handsome frame, stone and brick houses replaced log cabins and many of these structures are now included in the National Register of Historic Places. In recent years, the late Mr. and Mrs. Laurance S. Rockefeller donated the property which was the birthplace of George Perkins Marsh, one of the founders of the conservation movement, to the US Government, paving the way for the first National Historic Park in the state of Vermont.
