Jeep launches a Renegade diesel in Italy

FCA Group

Jeep and its Renegade have become the hen’s golden eggs of the Italian-American Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Group (FCA). Thanks to the remodeling of the range of the manufacturer of all-terrain and its arrival to the market the signature of the seven bars have increased its worldwide sales exponentially. If that were not enough, the smallest Jeep road has incorporated a diesel access engine with 95 hp.

Italy has become the second home of Jeep, as the Renegade is manufactured in one of the Italian plants of the FCA Group along with the Fiat 500X. For this reason, the firm has decided to launch this version of access for this important European market. The reason that has given the mark is simple and is adjusted to what the market demands. With this model and motorization, they are looking to provide a showy vehicle for young people who have taken the license a short time and can not drive a more powerful car.

The engine is the familiar 1.6 MultiJet FCA Group that instead of offering the 105 or 120 hp we already know only provides 95 hp. Obviously, it is a very reasonable power for this type of vehicle, but Italian legislation says that for novice drivers (for a time) can not drive vehicles with more than 55 kW of power per ton and this Renegade perfectly meets this premise.

This motorization develops a torque of 320 Nm, a figure not negligible to be only 95 hp. Besides, it is attached to a six-speed manual gearbox. The brand has decided that this motorization is only linked to the level of equipment Sport, the most basic available in the Italian market. Its price, without promotions or discounts, is situated at 22,800 euros, so it could be much lower once the brand applies its discount rate.

Finally, we do not believe that this model reaches our borders because in Spain there is no limitation of power for new drivers and therefore would not be necessary. Yes, it could in the future enter Spain the version of 105 hp, which is also sold in Italy, to further lower its base price in the diesel cycle mechanics.
